About the Program

It’s Between us

We are trusted partners in a safe space

Do you need to connect with someone who understands?

We know the depths of your responsibility to your loved one. Shared experience is powerful and can really help those who are struggling to manage their loved one’s addiction and/or mental health crisis. Our Be There Person Program is like a warm embrace and will allow you to connect with someone who understands what you are going through. It is a safe space where you can fully express yourself without judgement. Through chaos, anxiety, financial hardship or whatever it is you are feeling.

Our Story

In serving the community for over 30 years, we have personally experienced how addiction and mental illness have no boundaries. They touch every human being. We have close relatives and friends experiencing serious mental health issues and we have gone to funerals of those lost to an overdose. Through these experiences we realized that supporting the caregiver is just as important as the person suffering. Driven by compassion and a spirit of giving, Arc was developed to provide comfort and resources to the caregivers in an effort to give them the courage and strength to keep moving through their journey.

You Gave Mary a Warm Embrace When She Needed it Most

You Gave Mary a Warm Embrace When She Needed it Most

“We were waiting for years for this call, but you can never prepare yourself for it”

hen Mary saw an advertisement for an opioid forum hosted by Chabad, she knew she had to attend. Her own family had tragically been affected by opioids. “My husband had abused drugs for years, and I really tried to help him, but I got to the point where I realized he was the one that needed to fix it. We divorced in 2018, and I was left to take care of three kids. I struggled with depression, and finances were very tight.”

So when the rabbi asked for volunteers to help the cause, Mary signed up. Together with several other volunteers, she worked to form ARC, which provides resources to individuals and families whose lives have been affected by a loved one struggling with mental health and addiction. “Rabbi Shemtov encouraged us to provide a ‘warm ebrace’ to families. So we decided to give each family something special, like a gift card to grocery store or tickets to a concert.”
