Volunteer to 'Be There'

As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to provide vital support, guidance, and empathy to individuals and families in the community.

Our Volunteers provide the assistance and support our caregivers need as they navigate life with an addict or loved one suffering from mental illness.

This is not a clinical program and no medical or clinical experience is required. Time commitments and client engagements are flexible.
Volunteers will be expected to go through necessary background checks and participate in Arc’s training program for Volunteers.

Intake Volunteers

Intake Volunteers are the first point of contact for our program. They answer calls and emails to the Help Line and work directly with clients who need referrals or access to specific resources.

A key responsibility is to gather information from clients so that we can pair them with a Be There Person that is best suited to help their particular situation.

‘Be There Person’

Have you been a caregiver and understand their journey?

Do you value compassion and empathy?

Are you looking to make a difference in the lives others?

Our ‘Be There Person’ team acts as an open ear, a source of support, a connection to resources, and a guide towards health and healing.

General Volunteers

These Volunteers can be asked to help with anything that would directly impact our caregivers. Examples of this might be rides, delivering groceries, babysitting, or passing along respite items, like movie tickets, or a restaurant gift card. Their interaction with the client may be as short as a minute, or longer depending on the need they are fulfilling.

Fulfilling our mission of being a lifeline for caregivers doesn’t happen without our selfless volunteer team.
